Fall asleep to the murmur of crickets and wake up to birdsong at Kilo Cabin. Our bohemian log home sits in the middle of sun-dappled woods – you’ll feel like you’re deep in the mountains, but we’re only 40 minutes from downtown Atlanta, 50 minutes from the airport, and a straight shot 15 minutes south of I-20.
We have a wrap-around deck and a two-story screened porch. Cozy up in the comfy couches on either floor; cook in our bright, open kitchen; Netflix-and-chill with the Roku stick in the loft; or relax in the balcony hammock and watch the nearby lake shimmer through the treetops.
Downstairs we have two private bedrooms. The first downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, dressing mirror and rocking chair, as well as both an empty dresser and closet for guest use. The second downstairs bedroom has a full bed, rocking chair, and direct access to the back porch. It also has empty drawer space and closet space for guest use. There is a full bath downstairs.
In the spacious loft upstairs, there are two more full beds as well as a closet for guest use. There’s another full bath upstairs, as well as a TV and sitting area, a work space, and access to the second-floor screened porch.
For groups of more than eight guests, we add a single camp cot upstairs and make up the downstairs sofa as a sleeping space for one more person. For groups larger than ten people, please inquire about brining your own floor mattresses. We are often able to make accommodations for quiet groups needing more space.
The cabin has central heat and air conditioning. Our water is from a private well. We provide a Brita water pitcher for you, if you prefer filtration. The wood burning stove is not for guest use, and you may not build any outdoor fires.
Please note that the cabin is not baby proofed.
While the space is well appointed for guests, this is our home, so you will be sharing the space with some personal belongings. Our style (including everything from our furniture to our dishes) is bohemian and eclectic.
Please don't book our space if you are afraid of the dark or remote areas. We are set very far back from the road, and you cannot see any other houses from the cabin. You might see and hear wildlife.
The surrounding land is undeveloped – don't expect manicured lawns. Do look forward to lots of privacy, sunlight, and magic!
You will have full access to our home – kitchen, laundry room, business-speed wifi, and Roku stick included. We will provide coffee, tea, sugar, and half and half. For walks outdoors, we provide bug spray and sunscreen. We can also leave you an infant playard, jogger, baby booster seat, baby bathtub, children's books, and toys, upon request. Just let us know what you need. The downstairs of the cabin is handicap accessible via a ramp in the front. The private lake is held in common as part of the land trust – occasionally you'll see another family, but usually you won't.
Keep in mind that – as with any rural space – wildlife lives here too. For your comfort, we suggest you wear bug spray (provided) and take a thorough shower after any long walks. Keep your eyes peeled for creatures underfoot, if you venture into the woods. Check your shoes before putting them on. Don't be alarmed at night if you hear the rustling of deer or the distant howl of a coyote.
The Roku stick upstairs provides access to streaming content through Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. Guests are not able to make purchases through these accounts. There's no regular cable or satellite TV service, and the only TV monitor is upstairs, which is not handicap accessible.
While we’ve hosted hundreds of guests, and never heard of any trouble with cell reception, there is a land line phone available for emergency use.
We offer individual Beekman 1802 goat milk shampoos and conditioners for guests. Beekman 1802 products are cruelty free, made in the US, and contain no parabens, petroleum, mineral oil, diethanolamine, paraffin, or banned phthalates. Our hand and dish soaps are by Method and our detergent for dishwasher and laundry are by Mrs. Meyer's. We use low-impact cleaning products that are safe for kids and pets. Our sheets and towels are all 100% cotton.
We deep clean for several hours between each reservation – the cleaning fee is to cover this cost. However, we do expect you to leave the cabin in good condition, wash and put away your own dishes, “pack out” your personal belongings, and take out the trash before you go.
Check-out time is 9am, as we almost always have back-to-back bookings, and clean in the mornings. Sometimes an 11am check out is available for an additional $35. Please inquire if you are interested in this. Check in is at 5pm. Sometimes the cabin is ready before this. We will let you know the day-of.
Please no photoshoots, filming, events, or parties without prior written permission. However, if you want to do any of these things, please let us know, and we will be as accommodating as possible. We want you to fall in love with our home.
